"Welcome to Our Farm"

Welcome to our desert oasis. Located 60 miles West of Las Vegas, between Las Vegas and Death Valley. Our goal is to strive to become as self sustainable as possible and being good stewards of our land and animals.
The main goal and focus is in raising animals humanely and providing them the best possible environment in which to grow. This environment must include full access to grass pastures.  Our beliefs is what guided us on our path to becoming the only “animal  welfare approved” farm for our fresh pastured organic eggs, chickens, and geese.
All farm activities are performed with organic and or bio-dynamic growing methods and principles.

FIRST FARM IN NEVADA AWARDED TOP ENVIRONMENTAL AND ANIMAL WELFARE CERTIFICATION
–Primetime Farms uses sustainable agriculture methods to earn Animal Welfare Approved certification for its laying hens, meat chickens, and breeding geese–
PAHRUMP, NV (MAY 27, 2015)–The laying hens, meat birds, and breeding geese at Primetime Farms are now certified as Animal Welfare Approved. This certification and food label lets consumers know these animals are raised in accordance with the highest animal welfare standards in the U.S. and Canada, using sustainable agriculture methods on an independent family farm. Primetime Farms joins recently approved NFR Beef in Fallon to become the second Certified AWA farm in the state of Nevada.

Like other AWA farmers across the country, Michaelene and J. Michael Griffin recognize the growing consumer interest in how animals are raised on farms. Managing animals outdoors on pasture or range has known benefits for animals, consumers and the environment. The Griffins own and manage Primetime Farms in Pahrump, 60 miles west of Las Vegas. In addition to producing fruits and vegetables, Primetime Farms’ 10 acres is home to flocks of Certified AWA laying hens, meat chickens, and geese.

Michaelene Griffin explains that raising poultry outdoors on pasture reduces their animal feed costs and results in fewer health problems among the birds: “Although pasture management techniques require more work, after many years farming we know the best results are pasture-raised animals-they’re the healthiest and happiest, hands down.”

After learning about the AWA program, the Griffins knew AWA’s high-welfare and environmental standards truly reflected their values and farm management approach: “When it was time for our farm audit, I thought, ‘Oh boy, why did I put myself through this stress!’ But it was such an honor to pass the audit and to get ideas about how to do things better. AWA helped us keep improving our farm. I am proud to hold AWA certification.”

AWA Program Director Andrew Gunther says, “The accountability and integrity offered by Animal Welfare Approved farmers like Michaelene and Michael are unmatched in food production. We’re glad to have Primetime Farms in the AWA family.”

Primetime Farms Certified AWA eggs and meat are available direct from the farm. For more information, visit www.primetimefarms.com or contact Michaelene and Michael at primetimefarms@gmail.com.

About Animal Welfare Approved
Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) audits, certifies and supports farmers raising their animals according to the highest welfare standards, outdoors on pasture or range. Called a “badge of honor for farmers” and the “gold standard,” AWA is the most highly regarded food label in North America when it comes to animal welfare, pasture-based farming, and sustainability. All AWA standards, policies and procedures are available on the AWA website, making it the most transparent certification available.

AWA’s Online Directory of AWA farms, restaurants and products enables the public to search for AWA farms, restaurants and products by zip code, keywords, products and type of establishment. AWA has also launched AWA Food Labels Exposed, a free smartphone app guide to commonly used food claims and terms, available from the App Store or Google Play. A free printable version of Food Labels Exposed is also available for download at AnimalWelfareApproved.org.
