Our soil on the farm has high Ph and low acid so we mulch our garden beds with pine needles which are naturally acid. The pine needles keep moisture in and helps keep the garden beds warm during the winter as well as amend the beds with acid. We planted about 200 pine trees the first year we moved...

We are busy using the broad fork to lift and airiate the soils in our garden beds. We then mulch with our farm organic compost and worm castings. These beds will be for our root crops....
